Dr. Frank McCormick Publishes in JOCR: A Rare Subscapularis Tear Following Posterior Shoulder Dislocation

Bayonne, NJ – November 2025
Dr. Frank McCormick, Harvard-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and founder of SIGMA Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, has had his latest manuscript accepted for publication in the Journal of Orthopaedic Case Reports (JOCR), scheduled for the December 2025 issue.
The article, titled “Rare Subscapularis Anterior Leading Edge Tear Following Traumatic Posterior Dislocation,” describes a unique and underrecognized pattern of subscapularis injury that occurs following traumatic posterior shoulder dislocation — a condition that can easily be missed on standard imaging and clinical evaluation.
Dr. McCormick’s case analysis underscores the importance of advanced imaging, arthroscopic precision, and early recognition in preventing chronic dysfunction and recurrent instability. The findings contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting data-driven and anatomically precise shoulder repair techniques, consistent with SIGMA Orthopedics’ mission to deliver Excellence Defined by Outcomes™.
